Landscaping questions come up at 7 a.m. on a Saturday, not during business hours. Your DIY Program includes an AI assistant built on our landscaping know-how and loaded with your own plan.

It rained 2 inches Friday. Can I till the beds Saturday?

Probably not. Dig a handful from 4" down and squeeze it. If it holds together in a ribbon, it's too wet: tilling wet clay leaves hard clods that won't break up until spring. Swap your weekends instead: - Saturday: set the steel edging and lay the drip mainline (weekend 4). - Sunday afternoon: squeeze-test again and till if it crumbles.

That pattern, yellow between green veins on new leaves, usually means iron chlorosis. Loropetalum likes slightly acidic soil, and soil and builder fill often run alkaline. - Feed with a chelated iron product labeled for shrubs. - Keep mulch 3" deep and off the stems. - Check it again in 3 weeks. If older leaves turn yellow too, send it in for an expert review.

Do I need landscaping experience?

No. The schedule and step guides walk you through each job in order, and the DIY Program includes expert reviews by email and an AI assistant for questions any time.

What is the AI yard assistant?

A chat assistant included with the DIY Program. It answers from your own plan and schedule plus our landscaping playbook, any time of day, and you can send it photos. It gives guidance, not guarantees, and it tells you when something needs a licensed pro.

What happens after my first year?

Your plan and files stay in your account. Yard Care continues at $19 a month if you want to keep the assistant, monthly care reminders and supplier pricing. Cancel anytime. Assistant use includes up to 100 questions a month.

Can I install my own sprinklers?

In Texas, homeowners can generally install on their own property; your city may require a permit and backflow device. Your plan includes a drip layout sized to your beds.

What about drainage?

Every plan shows grade and drainage away from your foundation. Clay soil doesn't forgive guesses.

What if I want help with the hard parts?

We'll connect you with vetted trades for grading, tree removal or lighting, and you do the rest.

Will my HOA approve it?

Your plan comes with a sheet formatted for HOA submittal.

Our story

Why I started DIY Landscaping.

I'm Peyton Janecek, and I work in Houston custom home building. Over and over, I watched homeowners finish a new house and then get a landscaping quote that took their breath away.

Most of that number isn't plants or stone. It's crews, trucks, overhead and markup. The homeowners I talked to were willing to do the work. What they didn't have was a real plan, the right order of work, and access to the pricing contractors get.

So that's what DIY Landscaping is: a professional plan drawn for your yard, a budget you can trust, our pricing at the supply yards, and a schedule that walks you through it one weekend at a time.
